To protect patients' privacy and security, all information is collected in a safe and consistent process across all member cancer centers. All your personal identifying information is removed before data is shared. This protects your privacy while still helping researchers learn from your health information.

We collect…

Clinical data including information about a patient’s diagnosis, demographics, history of cancer or other conditions, lab results, cancer-related treatments, and how effective those treatments were, which is vital to understanding each unique patient journey to identify similarities and differences with other patients that may be important for informing future treatment options.
Molecular data includes information from tumor tissues, blood, or cheek swabs. This allows researchers to find DNA and RNA changes associated with cancer. This data cannot be used to identify a patient.

What are the benefits of participating in Total Cancer Care® (TCC) and sharing my health information for research?

You are contributing to learning about patients just like you and helping to change the course of cancer care for patients across the United States. Your health information helps improve cancer treatments for future generations, while also enabling researchers to potentially match patients participating in TCC® to targeted clinical trials at the right time.

How do I sign up for ORIEN® TCC® ?

You can sign up through a doctor who works with an ORIEN® member cancer center. If you are interested in TCC®, ask your doctor to enroll you or, if they are not an ORIEN® member, to refer you somewhere that is. Find the closest ORIEN® TCC® member cancer center site to you here.

How is my health information used in TCC®?

Each ORIEN^® Member cancer center has an individualized TCC^® consent protocol that explains how your health information will be used to conduct future cancer research. Contact your ORIEN^® member cancer center team for more information.

How does ORIEN® TCC® make sure my data stays private?

Your privacy is a top priority for ORIEN®, and member cancer centers follow strict federal rules for healthcare privacy and data security. Contact your ORIEN® member cancer center team for more information.

Can I leave TCC® and stop sharing my health information whenever I want to?

Yes. Participation is voluntary and you can unenroll from TCC® at any time without changing your care in any way. Simply contact your ORIEN® member cancer center team and ask to be removed from TCC® - no questions asked.
